Privacy Policy - Chameleon: Image Compressor

Appify Studio ("we", "our", or "us") built the Chameleon: Image Compressor app as a commercial application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our app.

1. Information We Collect

Photo Library Access: The app requires access to your photo library solely to allow you to select images for compression and to save the compressed output back to your device. We do not access, read, or upload any content from your library beyond what you explicitly select.
Compressed Image Files: All image compression and conversion is performed entirely on-device. Compressed files are saved locally to your photo library or the Files app. We do not transmit, retain, or store copies of your images on our servers.
Compression History: A local history of your past compression sessions (file names, sizes, and compression ratios) is stored on your device to provide a convenient history view. This data never leaves your device.
App Preferences & Settings: Compression settings (e.g., quality level, output format, resolution) are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to us.
Usage Data: We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (such as app launches, feature usage frequency, and crash reports) to improve app performance and the user experience. This data cannot identify individual users.
Diagnostics & Crash Logs: If the app crashes, anonymized diagnostic data may be collected via Apple's crash reporting system to help us identify and fix issues.

2. How We Use Your Information

To access and compress image files you explicitly select on your device
To convert images between formats (e.g., HEIC, JPG, PNG, WebP) entirely on-device
To save the compressed image output to your device's photo library or file system
To maintain a local history of your compression sessions for your convenience
To store and apply your preferred compression and export settings locally
To improve, optimize, and diagnose issues with the app
To provide in-app purchases and manage subscription status via Apple

3. On-Device Processing

All image compression and conversion is performed entirely on your device. Your images are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party server. Chameleon: Image Compressor is designed as a fully local, privacy-first tool:

No image content leaves your device during compression or conversion
No account or sign-in is required to use the app
The app works fully offline — no internet connection is needed to compress images
Compressed files are saved directly to your device
Your compression history is stored locally and never synced to external servers

4. Data Storage

All image files, compressed outputs, and compression history are stored locally on your device. Your preferences and settings are saved locally. We do not maintain user accounts or store your personal data or image files on our servers.

5. Third-Party Services

The app may use the following third-party services:

Apple App Store: For app distribution, in-app purchases, subscriptions, and analytics. Apple's privacy policy applies to data collected through App Store services.
Apple Crash Reporting: Anonymized crash logs may be shared via Apple's standard crash reporting system to help us diagnose issues.
Advertising Partners (if applicable): If ads are displayed, ad networks may collect device identifiers and usage data in accordance with their own privacy policies and Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.

These third-party services have their own privacy policies governing the use of your information.

6. Permissions

The app requests the following device permissions:

Photo Library (Read & Write): To select images for compression and to save compressed output. You can manage this permission at any time in iOS Settings.
Files Access (if applicable): To allow importing images from and exporting compressed files to the Files app.

You may revoke any permission at any time via your device's Settings app. Revoking a required permission will limit the functionality of the app.

7. Children's Privacy

Our app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is not directed at children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

8. Security

Because all image processing happens on-device and no image content is transmitted to our servers, your media remains private by design. For any data that is transmitted (e.g., anonymous analytics), we use industry-standard HTTPS/TLS encryption. No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Delete any compressed or original image files from your device at any time
Clear your compression history directly within the app
Revoke photo library access in your device's Settings at any time
Opt out of personalized advertising via iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking
Request information about any data we may hold about you
Request deletion of any data associated with your use of the app

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
